WHY DO YOU CHOOSE TO WORK WITH YOUR PRODUCER?

We studied together at the university in São Paulo Brazil, and made the centro sperimentale di cinematografia of Rome, Italy. We were used to work together since then, and we have many things in common and the ones we don’t have at least we respect our differences. I think we have a mutual appreciation for the job of each one, we use to be creative and have a lot of good humour.

For this particular film, TERRORIST, we were always talking about delicate subjects, for one side you want to get as much as you can but for the other you can't invade the protagonist’s life to make him comfortable to talk. Making a difficult and long interview and talking about someone's inner deep life and problems is really taught. You have to be respectful with your protagonist but at same time you have to be wide open to not build a pre conceived view, and find the film, to build up the film, while still shooting.

Working with a very reduced crew is crucial. So the few very people you work together for so many hours, must be really good and to be totally in the same wave. It becomes vital that you have at least to get on well with.

In this kind of work also so many temper situation can come and I know how Ludmila is and vice versa, so we are very direct and frank risking very often to go over the edge. She is not just a producer, but a d.o.p., a director and a friend. So it’s really rare to have so many qualities in only one person and I hope one day we can create a solid network in between Brazil and Europe.
